Creative Energy Concepts (CEC) including its predecessor companies has a long history of providing innovative solutions to thermodynamic challenges from harnessing solar energy to ultra-low emission power generation, air cycle cooling in difficult situations, effective heat transfer under marginal conditions, environmentally sound waste reduction, industrial cogeneration and commercial combined heat and power plants.

Along the way, CEC and its associates have had an important hand in pushing back the air and space technology frontiers to pioneering civil and military programs, ranging from manned space flight to modern jet transports. Some of the "firsts" involved in these endeavors were the use of air bearings in high speed cooling turbines, gas turbine auxiliary power units in civil transports, micro gas turbines in vehicles, waste gas combustion in gas turbines, and commercial use of solar concentrators.

CEC has used the services of and worked closely with Thermo-Mechanical Systems (TMS) on many pioneering efforts, including the prototype testing and demonstration of what later became the Capstone Microturbine, the development of an unconventional air cooling system for a main battle tank, development of a low cost gas turbine generator based on the use of automotive turbochargers and closed loop reverse Brayton cycle cooling systems for a public utility. The companies pride themselves on their shared legacy of setting new standards in thermodynamic system performance and durability.

One of TMS' specialties has been the creation of small radial compressors and turbines with exceptional performance used in turbo chargers, gas turbines, pressurization systems and turbo expanders. TMS has designed, fabricated and matched turbo-machinery systems for a range of complex, one-of-a-kind applications.

CEC is launched on a course of making greater commercial use of its inventions without affecting TMS' creative prototyping environment. CEC plans to accomplish this by setting up business units to produce and market particular product categories in which it aims to retain significant equity interests. There are three distinct product categories which pertain to applications with very significant growth potentials. These are:
